Monthly Report for May 2014

Saturday, May 31, 2014

May was a month for getting back on the bandwagon. Using vimwiki regularly, and working off the weekly tasklists, together with drafting these weekly and monthly reports, which have proved to be useful for reflection and analysis (and even some encouragement).

I started investigating the Indieweb movement, where I’ve found several interesting ideas and a more coherent way of expressing a belief that I’ve held ever since I started using the web, somewhere in the past century: it is vital to control, as much as possible, your own content. It is not only easy, but fun, to have your own domain, your own site, and post there whatever interests you.

I went back to IRC, where most of these ideas are being actively discussed, and I also registered a short URL, in order to begin publishing content on my site that is easier to share to Twitter or Google+.

I finally started experimenting with Cobbler, for automating as much as possible our installs, before handing over the configuration to Ansible.
